Rye House - Karting

Created by dmt24 11 years ago
This February I was chatting to Jon at a Rye House Kart track. This is where he first took a young Josh to learn to race. Over 13 years since that first drive, Josh was being avidly supported by his father at the very same track and it was clear Jon was proud, commenting on every lap. We were reminiscing about when Josh and I had a great race for the University of Bath kart team in 2010, scoring a 1-2 finish at Rye House in tricky weather conditions. Jon had taken a day off work to watch and help his son. Later that day he drove Josh to Cosworth in Cambridge to pick up spare parts for a University project, for which Josh was volunteering with. This father and son team worked so well together, and this no doubt was developed through many weekends at kart races together. I too am grateful that Jon introduced Josh to karting, because through this shared passion I have met a best friend for life. Thank you Jon Wesley. Regards, Dave Turton
